#ImmediateSexuality
Sexual Identity issue is no longer a controversial topic. However, under the shackles of traditional thoughts, discrimination against homosexuals in Hong Kong and some Asian cities is still very strong. Although Hong Kong is a cosmopolitan city and has many LGBT organizations and activities, the discrimination and disgust of LGBT community are still rooted in some people’s hearts. In this #ImmediateSexuality series shows people and performers from different sexualities to the audience through photography. Photographer believe that this is not only a pure aesthetic perspective, but also a complaint against traditional thinking.
“My works are inspired by my life experiences, predominantly bad ones. For example, I’ve seen individuals of minor communities in Hong Kong being discriminated against, drag artists being publicly criticized or judged by the audience, bleach being thrown in passageways where homeless people found shelter, traditional culture elements being overshadowed and destroyed by modern developments and many more. All these negative experiences might not find a happy ending in reality, but have therefore become my motivation to create.”
His belief is implemented through out his photography. Gender, sexuality, body, occupation, and race are not criteria to define us.
