Kasper Forest is a Hong Kong–based photographic artist whose practice focuses on marginalized communities. Through sustained observation and close engagement, he documents individuals and stories often overlooked within mainstream narratives.

Since 2016, Kasper has been developing a decade-long photographic project, Conflict Hong Kong, which explores the potential of photography as a medium of social documentation. The series centers on marginalized urban communities, including grassroots laborers, the homeless, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other cultural minorities. Beyond depicting their living conditions, the work interweaves images with personal narratives, revealing the underlying tensions between these communities and dominant social structures.

Methodologically, Kasper extends his practice beyond image-making by incorporating long-term textual documentation. He actively gathers first-person accounts from his subjects, forming a narrative structure in which image and language exist in balance. This approach has gradually evolved into a participatory documentary platform, where viewers are invited not only to look, but also to read, interpret, and respond.
